I’m sticking with the theme of Books for August, so I thought, why not another book list? This one is a little different: I wanted to put together a short list of great books specifically for writers. These are three of my favorites!

– The Anatomy of Story by John Truby. A book that breaks down all aspects of a story, whether it be a novel or a screenplay, this particular work can help you determine how you want your story to be shaped, and how best to make that happen.

– The Language Construction Kit by Mark Rosenfelder. If you’re like me and like to get completely immersed in your story, you may want to consider creating a language just for your book. In that case, this is the book for you! Jam-packed with tips, tricks, and all you need to think about to create your own constructed language, this book is an invaluable resource. 

– How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster. This book was a great read, specifically for showing how certain aspects of story can present themselves to readers. I highly recommend it for when you are considering what you want your readers to take away from your work.
