When it comes to books, fall always seems the best time to cuddle up in a blanket with a cup of tea and just lose yourself in reading. No wonder, then, that my TBR for this season is larger than usual!
Let’s take a look at what drew me in about this stack:
- Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: Set with a university backdrop, this book boasts ghosts, magic, and secret societies to keep you on your toes.
- If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio: Another university book, focusing on the unfortunate murder of a theater student.
- Dracula by Bram Stoker: A fantasy classic that is considered the father of all vampire books, it doesn’t get any more bloody and spooky than this.
- The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman: A retirement home has a murder mystery club, and soon enough these old birds are trying to solve a current case instead of a cold one.
- Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving: The traditional ghost story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman.
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkein: Everyone needs a little bit of grand adventure now and then, especially hobbits.
Not Pictured Kindle Books:
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein: The hobbit that began it all when he helped some dwarves oust a dragon from their mountain. I often fancy myself my own cozy hole in the ground for fall reads.
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte: A classic romance with a strange twist–someone creepy is in the attic and sometimes comes out to try to kill people and set things on fire.
- Verity by Colleen Hoover: This suspenseful tale of an author charged with ghostwriting for a bedridden bestseller will keep you on your toes.
- Good as Dead by Susan Walter: A hit and run, a bribe, and the underlying mystery of who’s to blame keep you guessing in this thrilling tale.
This autumn, I pulled books with fall vibes, focusing specifically on murder, mystery, ghosts, blood, and university campus backgrounds. All of these except the Lord of the Rings and If We Were Villains are new to me, and I’ve been blowing through them like wildfire through a dry field so far!
