With the summer solstice just past, summer is in full swing! That means it’s time for a new TBR. This time I’m trying to stretch my picks a bit into genres I don’t always read.
The Summer TBR is as follows:
– The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski: After playing Wild Hunt and watching the Witcher TV show, I decided it was high time to read the books!
– Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman: one I’ve been eyeballing for a while.
– 20,000 Secrets of Tea by Victoria Zak: You may not know I have my own tea shop, and I’m always trying to learn more about tea simply because I love it! This book has been on my shelf for a while.
– The Bone People by Keri Hulme: highly recommended by a book blogger I follow on tumblr, the Duke of Bookingham, the summary has a very summery feel to it.
– Uprooted by Naomi Novik: a book I tend to reread every year in spring, I couldn’t put off any longer—this book only gets better with rereads!
– The Egyptian Myths by Garry J. Shaw: I have always had a fascination with angient Egypt, and picked this book up at a bookstore in New Orleans on a whim.
– The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield: a book gifted to me years ago, that I never quite managed to pick up. I’ve heard very good things about it, and I’m ready to try reading it for myself now!

When I come up with a reading list for a season, I like to include at least one book I’ve read before and enjoyed, in this case: Uprooted. All of the remaining books are ones I either haven’t read or haven’t finished. I find that rereading books is a comfort, like revisiting old friends, while reading new books is an adventure into uncharted territory.
This summer, I went with colors that reminded me of summer, dull reds, livid teal, dusty browns, deep blues. I also tried to pick some books that reminded me of summer. Something about the Witcher brings to mind open fields and long days, while Egypt calls forth images of desert sand and burning sun.
Do you have any books on your TBR for summer? Would you be interested in a book review for any of the novels on my list? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
